6-week Foundation Gundog Skills

Service Description

Foundation Gundog Training is our six-week course of 1.5-hour classes held at our fabulous training venue Oakhurst Farm in Loxwood. This course is suitable for all breeds (from 9 months of age) wanting to explore gundog training and gaining an understanding of the skills required working your dog in the field. This six week course is suitable for all pet gundogs whose owners would like to learn about gundog training and train essential gundog skills. We welcome all breeds; your dog does not have to be Kennel Club registered. Gundog training is fun and provides your pet gundog with an outlet for their natural ability to work in the field. Dogs are mentally and physically stimulated, and the dogs feel good in themselves doing what they are bred to do. We aim for the training sessions to be enjoyable and fun for you and your dog. The bond and relationship with your dog will grow whilst also improving their key skills. This course is an introduction of the skills needed to work in the field and include recall, heelwork, retrieving, hunting. We will be discussing self-control and the importance of teaching our dogs calmness. The 'Foundation Gundog' course is designed to be a fun introduction to the basics of gundog training. The course will cover exercises such as the following: Heelwork, steadiness, recall, whistle cues, and introduction to retrieving and hunting.
